Modernization of Traffic Signage at PRAHA/Vodochody Airport

Over the past month, horizontal and vertical traffic signage at our airport has undergone modernization. The new signage has been renewed on taxiways BRAVO, CHARLIE, DELTA, and ALPHA, as well as on apron areas. At the same time, new vertical signage has been installed at entry points to the movement areas, warning of the prohibition of entry without proper authorization.

The renewal of horizontal (“VDZ”) and vertical (“SDZ”) signage has not only helped meet aviation regulatory requirements but, above all, has contributed to increased safety when moving on the airport’s movement areas.

In this post, we will show you what the new traffic signage looks like, where it is located on our airport grounds, and the basic rules we follow when moving around the airport.

Please always keep in mind that before any vehicle enters the movement areas of the airport, it is mandatory to stop at the sign “No entry, except for vehicles with TWR authorization.”

Furthermore, on the relevant radio frequency, we must request permission from Air Traffic Control (ATC) to enter the airport’s movement areas. If entry is required only to the west apron, permission may also be obtained from the APS/HDL staff. However, permission from APS/HDL for the west apron does not apply to operational areas of the airport (TWY/RWY).

After receiving clearance from ATC, we must continue to monitor the relevant frequency and coordinate all intended activities with ATC.

More detailed information about safe movement on airport movement areas can be found in the directive “LKVO Airport Regulations.”
